<image:caption>A total of over 100 Ashe Juniper trees have been rescued off this property at this Phase I. We expect to rescue over 200-300 trees total over the course of this Climate Smart Project™. This is project is estimated to have a environment impact of storing over 97,500 lbs of CO2e and contributing economical to over $150,000 in monetized Climate Smart Wood™ value. This USDA Wood Innovations Project serves as a full-circle forestry model. Please check out this Article: USDA FOREST SERVICE WOOD INNOVATIONS GRANT PROJECT for more details. <image:caption>Often overlooked, even a single tree can have a significant environmental impact. A great majority of this tree would be too large for recycling solutions such as chipping or mulching. However, we not only managed to divert the material from the landfill but also retained the stored carbon within the tree. In fact, 50% of a tree is carbon. We will give this tree a second life as heirloom furniture within the design of the Urban Space building project. The furniture will serve as a memorial to the tree's rich history and allow the community to touch, feel, and enjoy this remarkable example of a Climate Smart Project™. Incorporating natural wood into interior spaces does more than enhance aesthetics—it supports mental well-being. Research shows that wood surfaces can lower cortisol levels, helping reduce stress in a way that mirrors the calming effects of nature. Its warm tones and organic textures create a soothing atmosphere that boosts mood and emotional comfort. Additionally, wood’s biophilic qualities have been linked to improved focus, creativity, and cognitive performance, making it a smart choice for homes, schools, and workspaces alike.</image:caption>

<image:caption>This is a Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) property that has not seen any forestry activity for over 100 years. Ash Juniper, also commonly called Texas Mountain Cedar or aromatic cedar, is almost exclusively chipped or burned in Texas. Utilizing older growth material produces some very high quality cedar lumber with very tight grains that can be used fresh off the sawmill. The aromatic “cedar” is extremely stable and has excellent properties for exterior applications. It also has a rich red color and can have some surprisingly beautiful figuring.</image:caption>

<image:caption>This picture illustrates the power of people and strong foundational relationships. Team members of the Texas Urban Sawmill and the Austin Habitat for Humanity loading the 1st load of moutain cedar lumber. Sales profits from the sale of this lumber will go directly to support the HFH and TAMFS. The monetized value of the rescued timber funds planting and canopy expansion which is a real-life example of the full circle foresty model. The removed material mitigates wildland fire risk.</image:caption>

<image:caption>It all began with a massive old-growth black walnut slab from Oregon. Harvested from a 300-year-old tree over 70 inches in diameter, this 3-inch-thick slab was carefully kiln-dried to preserve its character and stability.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The base design was inspired by our client’s last name, making it truly personal. Fabricated entirely in-house, from bending the steel to precise TIG and MIG welding, the base took about three months to complete. Its 13 steel components are seamlessly integrated into a striking sculpture.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Extra care and attention went into the final finish of the walnut. Jesse Mahoney worked to maximize the rich color tones while highlighting the dramatic figure and unique character of this rare grain. You can also see the precision recess for the base top mount, which sits flush with the underside of the tabletop.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Given the high cost of bronze electro-plating, our clients chose a custom-painted base, perfectly color-matched to the fixtures in their new home. The base was professionally finished by a custom hot-rod paint shop, providing a superior, durable alternative to industrial powder coating.
